About Jill
Welcome to Love Cats Grooming!
I love cats! Actually, I love all animals. I have been a pet owner to dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, birds, fish, and horses. Being around animals gives me great joy and taking care of them fills my heart.
My background:
I will be retiring in July 2025 from being a public school teacher for 27 years, as an early childhood special education teacher. I have a Masters of Arts in Teaching Early Childhood and an additional 30 hours of post graduate course work in special education and early childhood. I am proud of my accomplishments as a teacher and I have truly loved my job and my adorable students. I am also a certified children’s yoga instructor and will continue to teach children mindfulness and self regulation techniques through age appropriate fun yoga classes geared towards their interests and abilities.
My present and future:
After taking classes in animal welfare and volunteering in animal organization, along with a little research, I realized what a huge need there is for feline grooming. I looked into training options and signed up with the best of the best, The National Cat Groomer Institute of America, to begin learning a new skill. It was not EASY to learn, like I foolishly thought it would be. I studied for hours and hours and hours for my exams. I trained under an award winning Certified Master Feline Groomer/Certified Master Creative Groomer, Mel Brink at Club Meow in Council Bluffs, Iowa. I learned how to properly trim nails, shave cats, assess temperaments, address skin conditions, bathe and blow dry, face trims, and the list goes on. I did not learn how to be a cat groomer by watching YouTube videos or from having my own cats. I have put a lot of time, money and effort into learning how to groom cats safely, humanely, quickly and correctly to ensure the best grooming experience for your cat.
Future goals
1. Open my home based salon by April or May 2025=Accomplished as of March 2025!!!
2. Retire from teaching July 1, 2025 and expand grooming days and hours.
3. Earn my title of Certified Feline Master Groomer by 2026
4. Educate owners on grooming tips and tricks they can do at home to keep their cats happy and healthy.
5. Volunteer in animal welfare to help cats in need by grooming and/or fostering=Accomplished!!! I currently volunteer at Animal House Cat Rescue and Shelter.
